Wild Blueberry Management Tool

The Wild Blueberry Management Tool delivers timely, decision-support information to assist wild blueberry producers in monitoring crop phenology, field environmental conditions and most critically, the infection risk associated with key diseases, including Monilinia blight (mummy berry, Monilinia vaccinii-corymbosi) and Botrytis blossom blight (gray mould, Botrytis cinerea).

Changing the Growing Year

Choose the year under 'Growing Year.' The current year offers current conditions and a summary of the forecast. Historic years offer data from what happened in previous years.

Can I export the data?

Yes. In the heading next to the forecast and historical records, there is the option to download the report as a CSV file.

How often is the model recalculated?

Every time you make a change or every time the weather station sends new information. This means that an infection prediction could change based on your changes or observed forecast conditions.

How to mark a pesticide spray day in the forecast and historical records tables?

Users can use the "Actions" column to update the "Pesticide Spray" column by selecting a desired date and selecting the pencil icon to activate the change function. After selecting "Yes" or "No," select the "✓" sign to save changes or "X" to exit without changing.

How are Growing Degree Day (GDD) totals calculated?

The GDD Total is the sum of daily GDD, accumulated from April 1 each year until October 31. This number is useful for estimating wild blueberry crop stages and for supporting Blight disease models in calculating infection risk levels.

Why are the infection risks coloured?

The infection risk levels of low, moderate, high and severe are coloured for emphasis. Low is green, moderate is yellow, high is orange and severe/infection is red.

If I make edits to the forecast, do they overwrite the predicted forecast?

Yes. To return to the current forecast, select undo on the changes that you made.
